Trial by Fire
A Miranda and Parker Mystery
Book 6
by Linsey Lanier
A Mystery and a Cold Case that Gets Personal
Trial by Fire written by Linsey Lanier is an intriguing book. Married less than a year, Parker and Miranda take on a cold case in Chicago. Miranda is seeking justice for the young dead art student and Parker has a different agenda; one that could end badly for them both. The house fire that killed the young students hits home for Miranda in ways that neither her nor Parker could imagine. Faced with deception and a ticking clock, Miranda must find the killer and face the unimaginable secret Parker is withholding from her. To complicate things further, Miranda has a history in Chicago that has not yet been resolved either!
This was a well-done mystery thriller that hooked the listener early on. The plot twists were unpredictable and thrilling. Although this was book 6 and I have not had the privilege of hearing the other books in the series, the author did an excellent job of character development of Parker and Miranda without it sounding repetitive.
The narrator, Kristin James was perfect! I have had the privilege of hearing her performances before so when I saw she had narrated this one, I knew I was in for a treat. She did not disappoint! Her distinctive voices were clear and fit each character’s personality. Her speech was clear and natural sounding.
There were issues with the quality or production of this audiobook. It was well-done and clear.
