Shadow of Wolves
by J.R. White
There is never a dull moment in this western meets werewolf tale!
“A tortured gunfighter. A Navajo outcast. – And the Creature whose claws would stain the stones of the Mojave red. Flush with raw silver and ruled by a baron with an iron fist, the tiny mining outpost of Shank’s Point is under siege by a sinister evil.”
This is a western-horror with such world building and character development that you feel you are there. The story moves well, with plot twists that kept me wanting more. I enjoyed learning about Kit Barker in pieces. His story is tragic and very well told. I love that The Life and Death of Peter Stubbe was built into this story; it was a nice, yet interesting touch. The ending wraps up the story really well, but left me wanting more. I hope to see more of Kit Barker in future books.
Micah Mason narrates this story wonderfully. He gives the characters their own voice. He does a great job of helping to build up the scenes with increasing his tone and speed to match.
Overall, this was a great listening experience.
The audio production of this story was clear and well done, there were no issues.
