Unexpected and Consuming!

Having lost everything, including his wife, Leland Monroe returned to his small hometown to recuperate with his teenage son.  Leland and his son have a rocky relationship that may just grow worse before it gets better! Trying to save his high school sweetheart’s son from spending the rest of his life in prison, Leland decides to defend him and solve the crime.  What he uncovers is unexpected and consuming.

The author, Peter Kirkland penned a creative small-town mystery filled with interesting characters and rich situations that capture the imagination of the listener.  He touches on real-life relationships between parents and their children, friends, etc.  The plot moves a bit slow at times but that only enriches the story and allows the listener to delve deeper into the motives of the characters.

The narrator, J J Hosenfeld delivers an exceptional performance.  His voices are well done and unique to each character.  His cadence was steady and kept the listener intrigued.  I enjoy his performances. His performance enhances the books.

Overall, this is a good book that touches on relationships, morality, and more.  I enjoyed not only the story but the narrator’s performance.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook. It was clear and crisp.
