A DEAD BORE
John Pickett Mysteries, Book 2
by Sheri Cobb South
Narrated by: Joel Froomkin
Production by: Sheri Cobb South
A DEAD VICAR BUT DEFINITELY NO DEAD BORE!
John Pickett, Bow Street Runner, finds himself knee-deep in another murder. However, this time, he is required to keep his true profession a secret by pretending to be a “footman” for the attractive widow, Lady Fieldhurst. While uncovering hidden secrets, Pickett finds himself avoiding a highly unpleasant and demanding housekeeper and a very precocious young girl seeking a more romantic and intimate relationship Pickett. Then there is the distraction of his growing affection for Lady Fieldhurst.
The author, Sheri Cobb South, continues the John Pickett series with more fun, more romance, and light mystery. South’s characters are consistent and integral to the plot of the story. The dialog is reflective of the time period it represents, witty, flows smoothly, and is authentic to the story and respective characters. I thought the plot twist was well done.
The performance by Joel Froomkin was well done. I truly enjoy listening to him perform as he becomes John Pickett; the other characters are well done but as Pickett, he is the man. I found his voices to be unique to each character. I have found that listening to Froomkin makes me want to meet Pickett! Froomkin maintains a steady cadence; speaks clearly throughout the book.
This is a good book that I would recommend. There is a touch of romance in this book and we are given more insight into Pickett which is entertaining and a little mysterious!
The production and quality of this audiobook were perfect. I encountered no issues; it was clear and crisp.
